The set consists of a metal housing, a bolt, a steel ball and a nut.
The whole thing is assembled before your audience.
The ball is placed into the housing, held up by the solid bolt.
No way this ball will pass through that solid bolt, but as your audience watches, without any cover, the steel ball slowly melts through the bolt and falls through to the table!
