Lets play the derby, says the magician.
He shows the audience eight cards, each with a horse and number. He has the audience shuffle the cards and give them back to him.
He then shuffles the cards himself, following the audiences direction to let them determine the order of the cards.
Then the magician shows the paper on which he wrote his prediction for the horse race. But not only has he predicted which horses would come in first and second, he has chosen the exact order for all the horses!

It is more fun to perform this effect before a crowd so that everyone can feel like theyre part of the action.
