The beauty of Stanley Jaks’ magic lies in the evocative and unusual objects he chose to enhance his carefully crafted presentations. From that extraordinary legacy, we are proud to recreate and offer one of his most distinctive effects.
(Effect)
The performer distributes blank, business card–sized slips to audience members, inviting them to write a message, draw a design or geometric symbol, and sign their name.
A spectator then freely selects one slip at random and seals it inside an envelope. The envelope is secured—by the spectator—between two metal plates fastened with a bolt and wing nut. These plates, suspended from a polished chrome chain, are returned to the performer.
Standing before a large easel, the performer gently swings the pendulum (or the spectator may do so). Remarkably, the performer accurately duplicates the chosen message, design, and signature on a large tablet.
The spectator who created the original confirms its complete accuracy.
And importantly:
- The performer never touches the selected slip
- Never handles the sealed envelope
- Asks no probing questions
This is a truly unique and visually elegant effect, suitable for both close-up and stage performances. The method is as ingenious as it is deceptive—a testament to a creator deeply devoted to his craft and to delivering unforgettable experiences.
This is an effect you will treasure, perform with confidence, and be remembered for.
