The spectator places the die inside the box without either the magician or the spectator seeing the number facing up, then closes the lid. No one knows which number is on top inside the box.
Now, the magician asks the spectator to turn the frame so that it faces upward. Next, the lid of the die box is removed... and the die in the photo matches the number facing up on the die inside the box perfectly!
