Created by magician Alan Wakeling and celebrated by Jim Steinmeyer, Loaded Dice transforms the traditional dice box into a beautiful, handcrafted walnut prop featuring a captivating multi-phase routine.
Alan Wakeling made a limited number of these in 1994 which have now become collector's items. Through the persistency of Rich Bloch we are now able to offer this unique and exciting effect manufactured by Collectors' Workshop.
(Effect)
At the start, a walnut-and-brass box holds six unmarked dice arranged in two rows. Nothing seems out of the ordinary, but a subtle cue triggers the dice spots to change—on command.
In a three-phase routine, the magician can independently alter either row of dice without touching them. The spots change visibly, with one row transforming while the other remains untouched. The audience might think sleight of hand—but all of this happens with the dice in plain sight and untouched!
The concealed mechanism operates smoothly and simply, delivering pure amazement. Whether used as a close-up effect or a display piece, it combines craftsmanship with clever engineering.
Don’t be deceived by its elegant appearance—Loaded Dice is a true performance powerhouse.
"About a year ago, Alan Wakeling surprised me with a routine from his workshop. It was a small beautiful box which contained six dice.
Amazingly, Alan had taken the old "sure-shot' dice box principle and not only disguised it within a beautiful piece of apparatus, but surrounded it with an equally exquisite routine. I suggested he produce a small number of them for sale, as I knew that they would be highly prized by close-up magicians and collectors alike.
Happily he agreed and the small run was an immediate sell-out. While the apparatus is pretty enough to place on a shelf or desk top, please don't neglect these routines. It's an amazing effect as you will soon see" -Jim Steinmeyer
