There are a lot of possibilities with presenting this trick, and is only limited by your imagination. The construction of the prop itself and the gimmick are top notch (albeit a bit tough to work when you first get it fresh from the package) and is a testament to Tenyo's ingenious way of improving a classic effect. You CAN use your own ring, but box is a bit small to use for some rings or wedding bands. I have a 3/8" wide ring and its JUST big enough to not fit in the box.
